As you know, the main function of this blog is to support small businesses, and Unison Productions is next on our list! I’ve asked co-owner / producer, Jay Yachetta, questions out being a small-business owner. Here's what he had to say…
How did your business get started?
Before starting our business together, my friend Todd Rawizer (also co-owner / producer at Unison Productions) and I had been working in the film industry for over 10 years.
I got my start working on content for brands like Food Network, Starbucks, and Saint Joseph's University. Todd started out with brands like Netflix, Vice, and NFL Network.
Being hired by multiple film and production companies throughout Philadelphia and New York City, we found ourselves working together frequently – me mainly as an editor, and Todd as a director of photography. Through these experiences, we discovered that we had a similar vision when it came to filmmaking – and bonus, we get along very well.
So, in the beginning of 2020, we decided to officially launch Unison Productions – and we've been steadily growing since.
What is the main focus of Unison Productions?
Our main focus is on commercials, and basically anything corporate – internal communications / messages, events, promotions, fundraising, etc.
We’ve done lots of commercials before, but What’s Next? The Game. was the first game we’ve ever filmed. So fun!
Where do you see the future of this company?
One of our main goals is to work with more narrative content and scripted films. We'd also like to expand our portfolio with bigger brands.
What’s your favorite project that you've worked on so far?
Just recently, we shot more than 100 promos for M. Night Shyamalan’s film, Old. This was especially exciting because he’s such an influential filmmaker for us, AND he's from our area. View the Trailer Here
Any advice for those looking to get into the film and video production world?
Constantly learn. Experiment with new approaches that come into the industry. Be versatile, and ALWAYS and go out of your comfort zone.
Our company recently teamed up Examine Dots Pictures for the creation of the award-winning film, Goodbye Honey It's a thriller that’s available to watch on Amazon Prime and iTunes.
Can you tell us a little bit about the film?
Absolutely! After escaping abduction, a frantic woman must coerce an exhausted truck driver to hide in the back of her truck for the night. The two women take refuge not knowing what the rest of the night has in store.
Thanks Jay! Any small business owners that want to create a commercial, or any other video content for their company, definitely check out Unison Productions.
Stay tuned for more exciting collaborations between M&J Games and Unison Productions!
