Coming from a large family, I knew the average job wasn’t for me. Each job I worked, I gave my best, Even getting promotions, but I still never felt fulfilled. AND I was losing precious time with my family. I felt the only way for me to maximize my income, and get the most time with my family, was by starting my own business. This was especially tough because my credit was horrible.

Soon after NJ Credit King was established, I was recognized by Yahoo News. From that recognition came an opportunity to become a franchise partner with Foozy Socks. Once the deal was in pace, and the socks started rolling in, I needed a place to sell. Initially, I started off at a local flea market. Then, I decided to sell from a cart inside the Cumberland Mall.It has been about a little over a month since we opened The Heart of Hustle in the Deptford Mall, and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
It wasn’t easy but we did it, with the help of family, of course. To be able to do this with my family, especially my wife, kids (Carter and Sa’Niya), and my mom (Trisha), makes it even more rewarding.
Now, we’re going on 3 years as entrepreneurs. There has definitely been ups and downs through it all, but I wouldn’t change a thing. In fact, we were recently just recognized by the Vineland Chamber of Commerce as “Small Business Rising Stat of the Year” for 2022.
To anyone thinking about taking a chance on themselves, go for it! Believe in yourself and put in the work to learn something new. So many things are possible in this world. After all, wouldn’t you rather say, “I gave it all I’ve got”, rather than “I never tried at all”?!
